About Artist

 The McKendree University Gallery of Art is pleased to present Hidden in Art, a solo exhibition of paintings by Toinette Jones. Color, shape, and line create hidden images, symbols, that are barely seen by the naked eye. Drawing from her community and children, Jones experiments with paintings and abstractions based in her personal experiences.

 

Growing up in East Saint Louis, Illinois, Toinette Jones has dedicated herself to making art, from an early age.  As an artist, author, and educator, Jones is influencing both the art world and communities that she engages with. Her art shows that communication is deeper than physical traits. She is currently working on more paintings and publishing her collection of art poetry.
